Well-Woman Care

Well-woman care includes a general health history, a sexual health history, a review of medications, contraceptive counseling, menopause counseling, a physical exam and, if needed, laboratory or other testing.

Each stage of a woman’s life requires health management, disease detection and prevention. The best preventive care measure is the annual well-woman exam. The early detection of reproductive health problems is vital to maintaining good health.

Infertility Treatment

Infertility treatment depends on the cause, your age, how long you’ve been infertile and personal preferences. Because infertility is a complex disorder, treatment involves significant financial, physical, psychological and time commitments.

Although some women need just one or two therapies to restore fertility, it’s possible that several different types of treatment may be needed.

Treatments can either attempt to restore fertility through medication or surgery, or help you get pregnant with sophisticated techniques.

Comprehensive Obstetric Care

Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care services, more commonly known as CEmONC, are the interventions provided to pregnant women and newborns experiencing fatal complications, including severe bleeding, infection, prolonged or obstructed labor, eclampsia, and asphyxia in the newborn. CEmONC interventions include safe blood transfusion, providing oxytocin and antibiotics, performing cesarean sections, manual removal of the placenta, assisted vaginal delivery, abortion and resuscitation of the newborn.

In-Office Ultrasound Including 3D/4D

An ultrasound is a technique used to create images and monitor information about a growing fetus inside a woman’s womb. Traditional two-dimensional, or 2-D ultrasound can provide a variety of information about a baby, including age, heart rate, and potential birth defects. While these 2-D ultrasound images are informative to doctors, the grainy black-and-white images don’t offer much of a view of the baby inside the mother’s womb.

Technological advances have allowed for the creation of three- and four-dimensional, or 3-D and 4-D, ultrasound so expecting parents can get a detailed first look at their baby. Strictly elective, a 3-D or 4-D ultrasound does not replace a diagnostic ultrasound to evaluate the gestational age and anatomy of the fetus. This recent technology, however, may enhance the fetal-maternal bonding experience.

Fetal Non-Stress Testing

The Fetal Non-Stress test is a simple, non-invasive test performed in pregnancies over 28 weeks gestation. The test is named “non-stress” because no stress is placed on the fetus during the test.

The test involves attaching one belt to the mother’s abdomen to measure fetal heart rate and another belt to measure contractions. Movement, heart rate and “reactivity” of heart rate to movement is measured for 20-30 minutes. If the baby does not move, it does not necessarily indicate there is a problem; the baby could just be asleep.

Ambulatory and Inpatient Gynecologic Surgery Including Da Vinci Robotic Surgery

The aim of ambulatory gynaecology is to admit, treat and discharge the patient on the same day in an outpatient setting.

Urodynamics Testing for Incontinence and Bladder Function

Urodynamic tests are used to diagnose patients who have urinary incontinence or other urinary symptoms. A urodynamic test is used to measure nerve and muscle function, pressure around and in the bladder, flow rates, and other factors. These tests look at how well the bladder, sphincters, and urethra are storing and releasing urine.

Most urodynamic tests focus on the bladder’s ability to hold urine and to empty steadily and completely. These tests can also show whether the bladder is having involuntary contractions that cause urine leakage. Tests may be done if symptoms suggest problems with the lower urinary tract. The urinary tract is the body’s drainage system for removing wastes and extra water. The objective of urodynamic testing is to aid in the selection of an appropriate treatment.

Cystoscopy

Interstim Therapy for Bladder Control

Hysteroscopy, diagnostic and operative

If you’re having certain symptoms like a heavy menstrual period, a hysteroscopy may help your doctor diagnose and treat the cause of your heavy menstrual bleeding.

Myosure for Polyp Removal

The MyoSure tissue removal procedure removes fibroids, polyps and other intrauterine tissue without having to remove the uterus.

Novasure

Novasure is a one-time procedure designed to remove just the uterine lining—the endometrium—which is the part of your body that can cause heavy bleeding. No incisions are required, leaving your uterus intact.

Non-Permanent Birth Control Devices

Intrauterine devices such as Mirena, Kyleena, Skyla, Lilitta, Paragard, and the implantable Nexplanon (placed under the skin of the arm) are semi-permanent alternatives to birth control in pill form.
